AFCO Heat Exchangers have a long history of performance and dependability for 2007-12 GT500s.
The problem: Ford's factory heat exchanger is grossly incapable of keeping charge temps low enough to quell timing being pulled. If you've ever kicked a GT500 in the butt at a stoplight and waited for the next light to turn green, you'll know that it feels like you lost 30-40 horsepower! Why? Because you did! Factory timing is pulled at just over 100F IAT2.
The answer: Multiple passes of fluid and fans to assist in recovery! When you're sitting still, you have no airflow over the core of the heat exchanger to dissipate heat. Nor does the factory pump (even a 13-14 pump) have the ability to supply enough fluid flow to cool it!
Real world, "no bullshit, no sales pitch" information. While "Christine" did a lot of racing and R&D work, cooling was even more critical. Whether it was a VMP GEN2R or a Whipple Gen4 2.9L at max boost, the AFCO 80280PRO never failed to bring the temps back down during pit time. After a pass and 30 minutes in the pits, I could crank the car up and see IAT2 of 170F! The car had sat there baking in its own convective heat. After a few minutes of fluid moving and those two 10" SPAL fans running, it was back down below 130 and ready to roll.
